5G mm-Wave Fixed Wireless Broadband Solution Provides 1 Gbps Through Windows

first_imgMaxLinear and SWR Technology, an innovative supplier of mid-distance wireless power solutions for smart devices, have launched a new solution that can deliver more than 1Gbps symmetrical data rate and up to 35W wireless power through triple-silver-coated low-emissivity (low-e) glass windows up to 35mm thick. The new design allows 5G fixed wireless broadband (FWB) service providers to deploy gigabit broadband speeds using mmWave spectrum. With this solution, consumers can self-install small indoor/outdoor devices in the corner of a window, without drilling holes, without running new cables, and without needing a professional installation. The small, low-profile form factor enables aesthetically pleasing designs that will not obstruct views through the window. The SWR Technology’s 2122N wireless power module uses its proprietary High Tolerance Resonance Transfer technology to transmit 20 Watts of power through standard or triple-silver-coated low-e glass up to 35mm thick. Future versions of the SWR module will support up to 35 Watts of wireless power with the same form-factor design. The SWR power modules are the first to address the challenges of dynamic load changes associated with 5G modems in an industry leading form-factor.Gigabit symmetrical data transfer is accomplished with the MaxLinear MxL210x “AirPHY” transceiver. AirPHY operates over a wide frequency range and transmits at extremely low power, below the FCC’s radiated emissions limits. In addition to low-e window penetration, AirPHY can penetrate solid structural walls up to 1m thick. The MaxLinear & SWR Technology wireless power & data solutions is on display at Mobile World Congress Barcelona this week.last_img read more

Week 15 NFL Power Rankings

first_imgAs the NFL regular season winds down and the playoff hunt heats up.  There are several big games on the docket this week, most notably the Patriots vs Steelers.  Things around the league are about to get very good, here is a quick peak and who I believe ranks where, and who can still sneak in! IndianapolisThis team is awful.  If they trade Luck in the offseason then the NFL needs to fine them and take away draft picks San DiegoPhillip Rivers has the Bolts running on all cylinders.  A weak schedule to finish up may lead to a shocking playoff run. MiamiA playoff team a year ago, but will struggle to finish 500 this season. CarolinaA veteran leader on the sidelines and behind center, gives the Panthers a serious chance to win the NFC. LA RamsWith an offense this good and a fearless coach, they can really sneak up on any team and go deep in January. OaklandSo much hype coming into the season.  What happened? Green BayIs Rogers coming back too late?  The Browns took them to overtime, the Browns for gosh sake?! WashingtonA middle of the road season for a team with major changes coming everywhere. DenverMaybe if they would have just kept Brock Osweiler around the first time, things wouldn’t be as bad as they are now. ArizonaWhat could have been if they were healthy.  Even banged up they have played well. CincinnatiOnly 3 weeks or less left in the Marvin Lewis era, that will have seen 0 playoff wins in nearly 15 seasons TeamReason DetroitA loaded roster, an easy schedule, what happened? PhiladelphiaEven without Wentz, this team has the makeup to win.  Don’t  count them out just yet.  Weak division will help Kansas CityWill the big win against Oakland last week revive them? TennesseeMarcus Mariota and the 8-5 Titans are right in the mix of things.  Don’t forget about them come January New EnglandThey will have Gronk back for the big matchup with Pittsburgh.  The hoodie will have them laser focused. DallasIs Zeke coming back too late?  He will have fresh legs and they will need to win out and catch breaks.center_img AtlantaThis is where they got hot last year and rode it to the Superbowl.  There is no reason to think it wont happen again. BaltimoreEven with Flacco playing below average, this team has a pathetic schedule the rest of the way and a chance. ChicagoDon’t let last weeks win over Cincinnati fool you, this is a very bad football team. San FranciscoJimmy G has them winning and sure seems to be the future at QB in Frisco HoustonWill Deshaun Watson be ready by training camp next year? PittsburghAn offense that can out score anyone in the league.  Week 15 showdown with New England is gigantic. JetsThe best bad team in the league. TampaAnother team with hype that fell terribly flat this season.  Will Winston ever mature? MinnesotaWho would have thought this would be the NFC’s best team? Great D and solid QB play equals winning! JacksonvilleThe surprise team of the NFL.  They had hype last year, this year they have actual hope! SeattleEven with a banged up defense, they still remain a contender and worthy to beat any opponent BuffaloDon’t buy into the record, this team is a mess. New OrleansWith an offense this good and the veteran leadership of Drew Bree’s, they are a serious threat. New York GiantsWishing they would have kept Tom Coughlin around right about now.  Need proof, look at Jacksonville ClevelandThe worst franchise in the history of organized sports continues to dissapoint in a new way each week. Guyana racket wielders back home with heads held high

first_imgGuyana’s Table Tennis delegation which competed at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast of Australia is back on home soil and have already begun to charter the way forward. The team, after journeying for the last three days, landed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri yesterday morning where a few members recounted their experience to Stabroek Sport.Christopher Franklin, the team leader, indicated that while Guyana didn’t medal, the players gave a valiant account of themselves.Shemar Britton“We performed fairly well,” Franklin underscored in his assessment of how the players fared Down Under. “The competition there was world class. Most of the players there do this [play tennis] for a living and every day. So, coming from where we come from and knowing the work we were able to put in, we held our own out there, and I’m very proud of the team,” the 34-year-old, who participated in his third Commonwealth Games this year, noted.Franklin, however, drafted an outline of what he feels the sport in Guyana needs for possible medaling prospects in the years to come.“That [medaling] will come from investment, we need to get our players out there on the circuit because once we are in thatPriscilla Greaves environment [more international exposure] we will improve faster,” the experienced racquet wielder opined. He also called for better training facilities, which he said in his estimation, will aid to better prepare future teams leaving these shores.Meanwhile, Guyana’s southpaw, Shemar Britton, who is expected to carry the weight of Guyana’s table tennis aspirations well into the future, explained that while he is satisfied with his outing, there is room for improvement. “I did the best as I could have. There is definitely room for improvement,” the lefty remarked.“In the team event, we definitely played to our potential and in the singles; I’m still regretting a loss in a match that I should have won against a Canadian opponent when I was up 2-0 even though he was several tiers above me in the world rankings.“I was playing better than him in that match, but the lack of experience cost me vital moments in that match, so there are things to work on,” Britton told Stabroek Sport.Christopher Franklin The 19- year-old has already begun to gaze into the future and hopes to head to Germany for a training stint in a bid to medal at the upcoming CAC games. The baby of the team, Priscilla Greaves, who is the 2017 junior Caribbean bronze medalist, noted that the experience shifted her perspective of what is required to excel in the sport at the highest level. She too noted that there is certainly a need to work harder as she reiterated her commitment to improving her mental and physical game.  Commenting on the achievements of Guyana’s lone medalist at the games, Troy Doris, who hopped and skipped his way to Gold in the triple jump event, a smiling Greaves said that she felt a sense of pride watching her fellow Countryman succeed.“It was very spectacular and I felt very proud of him. We only met him when we got there, and he is a very nice person. He deserves it. He works hard,” Greaves said.last_img read more

Juventus chief open to taking Serie A overseas

first_imgJuventus’ Chief Revenue Officer Giorgio Ricci has claimed that he is open to Serie A playing games abroad.La Liga have signed a deal to stage one game per season in the United States, as part of an ongoing expansion plan. The proposal has been met with firm opposition from the players, who claim to have been excluded from the decision-making process and are not ruling out strike action. However, Ricci feels a similar deal could benefit Italy’s top-flight, and has floated the idea of playing games in Britain.“To get the league more global is really important,” he said, at Soccerex.”If we look at some other more developed leagues in terms of commercial strategy; the NBA and NFL, they are exporting one or two of their matches abroad, to the UK or elsewhere in Europe.” The National Basketball Association (NBA) has often exported regular season games from the US around the world since 1990, with the National Football League (NFL) launching its own international series in 2007 and now playing in London annually.Ricci, however, admits that Serie A must be careful of not alienating fans and players, as La Liga appears to have done. “The key is finding the right balance between what the commercial need is and not losing the domestic DNA, which is the essence of football.”last_img read more
